Fiat Chrysler Issues Recall for 1.1 Million Ram Trucks

More than a million Ram trucks in the U.S. may have tailgates that could fly open while in motion.

Fiat Chrysler has just issued a recall affecting about 1.1 million Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from model years 2015 through 2017.
According to the recall, a part in the latch mechanism can break resulting in the tailgate opening unintentionally.
Trucks with manual tailgates or eight-foot cargo beds are not affected by this recall.
While Ram is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the malfunction, it HAS received more than 5,000 warranty or repair claims related to the problem.
Despite all those issues, the recall isn’t scheduled to begin until mid September. Until then,  owners are advised to secure anything in their truck’s bed.
