Diablo | Gaming Throwback

Released for the PS1 in 1998, this hack-n-slash RPG attracted fans in droves. You can play as a Warrior, the best close-quarters fighter; a Rogue, who is great at attacking from a distance; or a Sorcerer, who can learn the most spells–and level ‘em up, too. Regardless of your class, your mission is this: Rid the world of Diablo, the Lord of Terror. Fight your way through randomly-generated dungeons (and eventually Hell itself) on your quest to free the mortal realm from chaos and hatred. Use found items to advance your position...at least until they wear down. Bows, staves, swords, axes, maces, clubs, shields, and other armor are available for your arsenal. Wear an amulet, a helmet, and up to two rings for extra protection against your demonic enemies. Find spell books and scrolls for spell casting, then down a few potions for health restoration. For being a 20-year-old ARPG, the game holds up and the controls are pretty decent. Explore dungeons and catacombs alone, or take advantage of the two player co-op mode. But make sure you’ve got plenty of memory available; this bad girl takes up 10 whole blocks of space on your PlayStation memory card. Have YOU defeated the Lord of Terror? Let us know in the comments!
